sigh.

Is there some essential skill that I just haven't learned yet???
This is my attempt at sewing knit fabric. It's been so long since the last time I tried, that I thought it surely couldn't be as bad as I remembered.

Ummm. Yeah.

It's worse.

So, what am I missing here? Do you have any tips for me?
This is kind of depressing.

  1. OH NO! I assume you used a stretch needle? Can you adjust the pressure of the presser foot to be less? Did you do the blue and green seam? because that one looks good... or maybe it will press out with lots of steam? Or try a longer stitch length? Sometimes if you pull the fabric through from the back it stretches out... so just push it through? but you probably know all these things... maybe it's just your machine.

  2. Stretch needle = yes. Presser foot pressure = probably a good idea, but I don't know how/if I can adjust it. Blue & green seam = yes, I stitched it, and it looks good because it's vertical, not across the stretch. Push the fabric through = yes, tried that, and it looks just as bad there.

It's probably just my (30+yr old) machine. I guess I need a new one. Again, sigh.
