Interweave Studio Tour

Do you wanna see where I make my biggest messes? Huh? Do ya???

Interweave Press is doing a virtual studio tour on October 3.

I'll be posting pictures of my little corner of the house in all its glory... it's not as beautiful as I'd like it to be, but it's definitely functional.

As long as I keep it mostly tidy, that is. There have been days when I couldn't walk from one end of the room to the other. I won't show you what that looks like...

Just when you think you've got it all together, something happens to mess it all up again, you know?

The sixteen-year-old had a seizure on Monday evening.

You know those silly web pages with the flashy-flashy lights that tell you "do not click this link if you have epilepsy"? There's a reason for that warning. Seriously.

And no, we don't know if she's epileptic. It could (oh please, oh please) be a one-time thing. But you never know. More testing will follow. Her CAT scan was normal, so that's a relief!

Meantime, here's some more fun stuff that I don't have time to do...

  • Paper craft ideas using stuff you'd just throw away. I especially like the magazine cutout masking idea!

My kitchen is clean now, so maybe I'll get a chance to start making things again... who knows.

  • Printable apple stationery... thankfully, not much effort is required from me on this one!
  • More printables... this time to help you get past blank-page syndrome
  • An absolutely gorgeous pouch, with or without a leather strap... love it!!!
  • A stunning necklace... so simple, but so perfect

Does anyone want to make any bets about when I'll start posting pictures of things I've actually done, rather than just talked about???

before and after

I was requested to make a messenger bag for school. Since I didn't want to go out and spend lots of money on fabric, yet I still needed it to be waterproof, I went thrift-store-shopping and found this large jacket:

I cut it up into bits, and removed the lining and laid out pattern pieces and tried different layouts until I was able to make everything fit. I must say I'm rather pleased with the results.

So, thankfully, is my son.

go see this!

image from RubyFloy's shop at Etsy

You must go check out a new etsy store that's been opened by someone I know from the Christian Paper Artists yahoo group... she makes really cool stuff! I got a zine from her a while back and it was totally yummy!

Oh, and she's doing a giveaway too, but you really don't want to put your name in for it, because that would spoil my chances of winning. Yup.

You know you're a blogger when, half-way through your lunch, you run for your camera to take a picture of your food...

This was the yummiest sandwich I've eaten in a while. A couple of slices of roast beef, some aged white cheddar, and some home-made onion chutney. Oh. My. Goodness.

The chutney recipe is from the Rebar cookbook; a book that has yet to provide a less than stellar dish. Seriously, everything I have made from it has been amazing. Sweet potato soup... roasted veggie salad... macaroni and cheese... citrus poppy seed cake... the list goes on. I think that everyone needs to have this book!

So, here's the recipe:

Onion Chutney
from rebar modern food cookbook

2 Tbsp butter
2 yellow onions, sliced or diced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red chile flakes
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp brown sugar
4 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp cracked pepper

Heat butter in a pan over medium heat and add onions. Saute until translucent. Add salt, chile flakes and coriander and continue to cook for 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and cook until the onions are very soft and creamy.

more linky love

...things I'm drooling over, and wanting to make...

  • A gorgeous mudroom bench - I don't really have any place to put it, but I really really like it.
  • Wire wrapped ring ... so pretty!
  • Pendants made from old drapery rings... cool!
  • Downloadable calendar pages... even though it hurts to think that it's almost next year...
  • A Princess-and-the-Pea-inspired bench and mattresses... does it get cuter than this???

First of all, though, I need to finish up the canning and make my kitchen presentable again.
