Colour week: orange

And I thought I had even fewer orange things in my house than yellow ones!

A very yummy wine!

My eldest daughter's pencil box (yes, she writes in Elvish):

And yes, the macro button on my camera is now my official BFF.

Colour week: yellow

Tulips in my front garden:

An ancient (does that make it vintage?) cornstarch tin:
(and is it bad that I'm still using the cornstarch in it???)

dandelion:

Marble magnets that I'm making today:

Today I discovered the macro setting on my camera. The camera that I've had for almost a year. The one whose manual I have actually read. Several times. The same camera that I've been bitching about because I can't take decent close-up shots with it. Yeah. That camera.

another day

I've been feeling very contemplative lately. Learning to ask myself questions. Taking the time to answer them. Starting to (gasp!) analyze things rather than just react to them. Trying to be more intentional in my actions.

And though I'm trying not to use food to solve my emotional issues, it seemed like a good day for comfort food, the weather being the way it has been lately. So when I saw this recipe at everybody likes sandwiches I knew I had to make it. WOW was it good! I subbed in the veggies I had around, and used whole wheat flour for the biscuit topping, and it was simply amazingly good.

Question of the day: what's my relationship with my feelings?

Time flies...

Three years ago today... my water had broken almost 24 hours previously. I was about to be shipped off to Dundee, a half-hour drive from home, to be induced at the university hospital there. I was desperate for my labour to start. I knew that once the contractions actually started, it would be no time at all til the baby was born.

I made supper for the family, and then went into the bedroom and cried and prayed and waited.

And then the contractions started.

And then we rushed down to the Arbroath Infirmary.

Before I was even finished getting checked in, I was through transition and ready to push. And there, in the booking room, I delivered my sweet, fourth, final baby.
And now she's three.Time flies. But it's good. I've enjoyed every minute. I'm looking forward to every minute that's still to come.

Three (mostly happy) Faces

It all started this morning with a phone call from the school.
"Your son fell while roller-blading to school. Can you come and get him?"
Wait... Nathan roller-bladed to school this morning??? Is he CRAZY? There's a saddle hill he has to go both up and down. And it's steep. Very steep.

So, Ray drove out to see how bad it was. Not as bad as it might be... lots of blood and scrapes... Nathan decided he was okay to stay at school. Whew!

Of course, this is what his face looked like when he got home this afternoon... poor boy!

The next one was the result of a very yummy breakfast burrito and its subsequent drips of salsa.

And all day, I got to see this (or variations thereof):

It was a good day!
